Here we are folks.
Barack Obama will be the next President of OUR United States. As always time will tell if we went from the frying pan into the fire. IT is now our job to be sure he does not take us any further down the slippery slope we have been barely clinging to for the past FEW Presidencies.
IT IS WHAT IT IS!
Does that mean we do not have the right and/or the responsibility to point out what we see as his errors-in-judgment? Does that mean we should stand by the sidelines like mice or sheep?
I think not. I only pray we use the rational parts of our brains instead of what has been so evident in the last few months.
One thing is for certain. How people interpret our new President’s job performance will have a direct effect on their own personal memory. IF Barack Obama screws up those that voted for him will soon forget they even did. They will forget they voted for him just like they forgot they voted for George Bush. We have proven to be a very fickle breed, we Americans.
Those that voted for him will soon forget they elected Barack Obama just like they forgot they supported George’s move into Iraq.
YOU didn’t support Georgie you say? Good for you but don’t get too cocky. Your time may be coming. You don’t think so? I pray to God you are correct.
Before I get attacked on that front… No, I do not think Iraq was a good move. It is however now something we have to deal with in a rational manner. I am not willing to lose any more American lives in Iraq. I also am not willing to admit our 4,000 plus service men and women’s lives were lost for nothing… period. And no, two negatives do not make a positive, blah, blah, blah.
We have redefined the word bias and expanded the word predudice to include the majority of our population. IF Barack’s first name happened to be George I am convinced the outcome would have been closer ONLY because of the irrational tie to George W. A very real stampede away from George Bush instead of a run to Barack Obama ensued… and prevailed. I did not hear many debates at all from the electorate concerning actual issues.
Yes, Johnny is a Republican. Yes, yes, Johnny voted with Georgie on many issues. Yes Johnny had short comings.
The trouble is… We do not yet know Barack Obama’s shortcomings. Contrary to what some wish to think; He is NOT the Messiah.
Barack Obama has said little of his agenda except , “It is time for change.” I personally believe Barack Obama is an extremely intelligent and capable person. As an American I want and expect him to show us a true desire to keep America’s interests foremost instead of replacing them with his own personal agenda. It is something we have been missing for a long long time. Time will tell.
I think almost anyone that ran against ANY Republican would have prevailed. Perhaps even Nancy Pelosi.
See… It could have been a lot worse. History alone will log our wisdom… or our folly…
Beware folks… Change for the sake of change is not always a good thing. You may well get what you wish for.
More to follow…
